Yeson Voice Center (hereinafter referred to as YVC) has participated in the 2016 first half year medical charity project from May 10th for two weeks. Having started this project since 2011, many child patients have visited Korea from developing countries where it lacks of well-equipped medical facility. As a result it has given many children a new life by restoring their lost voice. The invitee for the project this year was a Russian child patient named ‘Sofiia Belkina’ suffering from the laryngeal papilloma. Sofiia has lost her voice when she was only about 11 months old. From the lack of right medical facility in Russia, her life was in danger, however, luckily she could finally be diagnosed with laryngeal Papilloma and had the endotracheal tube inserted in her neck. Since then, she has gone under several laryngeal Papilloma surgeries, however, her condition didn’t get any better. Having multiple times of repetitive surgeries, her family was in financial difficulty. Knowing her situation, YVC decided to cover all costs needed to proceed 3 times of surgeries. At the moment she has to recover and make the continuous follow-up soon after to check her surgical progression. All medical staff at YVC are wishing for the best result upon her surgery so that she could sound healthy again. Dr. Kim said, “It’s my pleasure to provide financial aid for this child patient and her family because I know how sad it could be to miss the opportunities to have surgeries on time. I strongly wish she could be completely healed and that she could breathe and sound normally.
