The visit of two medical students from the Catholic University of Korea to YVC for an internship opportunity Jae-won, Kim and Hee-Jong, Shin studying medicine at the Catholic University of Korea, have visited Yeson voice Center and had internship opportunity from March 4th to March 29th. As a part of their 4th graders’ selective internship program for 4 weeks, two students had chances to take participations in every operation and discussion followed by consultation, voice examination and treatment process that have taken place at Yeson Voice Center during their internship period. . It is believed it could have been a very helpful experience for the students as they could observe and learn the very diverse and rare cases of laryngeal diseases along with Yeson’s outstanding surgery techniques. Also, having taken part in the voice examination, voice therapy, high-speed video recording, Multichannel Phonokinetic Evaluation and Botox injection, they’ve gained new knowledge and experiences. In addition, they also could have a chance to observe the Microlaryngeal surgery aimed to treat laryngeal papilloma. The student, Jae-won Kim, commented that it was pretty touching and pleasant for him to see the whole progress of a Vocal-Fold-Paralysis-Patient with a very poor voice getting his healthy voice back through the continuous Botox treatment. Also by observing transsexual patients, he could realize for the first time that how important and imminent the Voice Feminization Surgery was for them. After his training at Yeson he said, his aim is to be a competitive and warm-hearted doctor who can be recognized by many patients in a specialized field. The internship opportunity this time added great value to students’ medical studies that YVC promised they would continuously make contribution to providing students with quality medical program at the same time increasing the standard of medical education.
