Dr. Kim published the result of his research work on ruptured cyst - Research activities

Dr. Kim, the director of Yeson Voice Center released his new research findings in the book under the title of ‘Diagnostic characteristics of ruptured cyst and the usefulness of Advancement Mucosal Flap of Vocal Folds (Co-writers Hyun Soo, Kim, Hee Ro, Youn and Ji Wook, Lee)’  
 
It’s hard to diagnose ruptured cyst as it can often be misinterpreted as nodules, polyp, laryngitis or sulcus vocalis. Therefore in many cases, it can only be diagnosed in the middle of the operation. It indicates the difficulty of providing patients with the prompt treatment.
 
From that reason, Dr. Kim had started his research to see any positive effects of Advancement Mucosal Flap of Vocal Folds on ruptured cyst by observing the aspect of an experiment.
 
This research was based on 60 patients who had ruptured cyst after having surgeries at Yeson Voice Center from 2006 to 2011. Fundamental cyst Advancement mucosal flap of vocal folds and comprehensive voice examination were held and as a result every patient was highly satisfied with its surgery result.
 
According to Dr. Kim, he said “through the research this time, it came to a conclusion that a complete removal of cyst is in need from the beginning of the surgery and then once it grows into ruptured cyst, advancement mucosal flap of vocal folds are needed on the damaged part after the complete removal of cyst.
 
The result of his research was presented at the 86^th academic conference of Korea otolaryngology and drew participants’ attention.
